Royal Government Strengthen Chinese Belt and Road Initiative

PHNOM PENH: The Chairman of the National Committee for Disaster Management, General Kun Kim, has addressed a statement at the Ministerial Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Management, this Wednesday afternoon.

He has announced the Royal Government and the Government of China have made efforts to promote bilateral cooperation under the top-level "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" of the "Belt and Road Initiative".

General Kim has also stated that bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and China is rapidly expanding in a number of key areas, including disaster risk reduction and management. He hopes those operations will benefit the Kingdom’s economic development, reassuring Cambodia's support for the Beijing Declaration on International Cooperation, as well as the Belt and Road Initiative in Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Management.

The framework is a major incentive for regional integration and deepening efforts in cross-border cooperation and enhance disaster management capacity. Both countries have reassured their efforts to achieve sustainable development and disaster resilience at the regional, national and local levels.
